If This Is Sunshine, What Is Rain?

A Congressional cloud hangs over life sciences companies:  the Sunshine Act (Open Payments Program).

Always mindful of the integrity challenges of others, our legislators have stepped in to save us from the venality of our doctors.  Apparently, a physician’s ethical compass begins to spin wildly when annual expenditures on him by a life sciences company exceed one hundred dollars per year. 

This is approximately what he charges to squeeze you in an otherwise inappropriate manner and have you cough.  One hundred dollars and he enters a Bermuda Triangle of temptation!

Life sciences companies will now have to rethink their marketing strategies in light (however dim) of the Sunshine Act (Open Payments):  a round of golf and a jumbo shrimp cocktail can no longer assure product success.
